Ode to My Yoga Mat + What Happened After

may the long time sun, shine upon you.  all love surround you.  and the pure light within you.  guide your way home.

~Snatam Kaur

I was on my yoga mat yesterday for the first time in a while.  It was opening and stretching and grounding.

So here is - Ode to My Yoga Mat

It's so good to see you, be with you.  I've missed you!

I haven't left you for my Crush on CrossFit.  You know why that is part of my training.

You are the seat of my soul.  Where I am grounded.

Serenity.  Sanctuary.  Surrender.

My magic carpet, allowing me to open, stretch, crack and accept where I am.

When I want to push, you quietly calm me down.

You do not force, you grant access for understanding.

I love your color, your smell, your texture, your support.

You lift me up, and ground me to the earth with gentle power.

My power.

My reflection.

Then What Happened After...

After a beautiful yoga class and a fantastic meeting with a client, I went home.  Where I was met with many lessons to learn from the rest of the day.

And Black Swan had been rustling up some energy lately.  I could feel her circling.

I have been telling women a lot lately to connect with their bodies.  That we can feel in our bodies when something is coming.  If we can catch it when it starts, we can proactively take action to shift the perception...or stance.

But if we are not aware of the signals and refuse to open the door to the messenger, the energy will come through by force, through every opening, crack, hole and weak point.  Then it takes much more effort and strength to make the shift back.  Although it doesn't have to.

There was an opening and Black Swan landed squarely on my shoulders and weighed heavily on my head and heart.

But it's just a part.  Not the truth.  I continue to learn.  Just like everyone else.

One of my favorite sayings is to sit at the feet of your own life and let yourself be taught by it.  Amen.

So after a night dreaming of enormous, engulfing, tossing waves,

and a morning of tears;

an admission.

a conversation.

love.

acceptance.

Gratitude.

and a promise to my yoga mat.

We will stay open.
